A mandala (Sanskrit: मण्डल, maṇḍala; literally “circle”) is a spiritual and ritual symbol in Hinduism and Buddhism, representing the universe. In common use, “mandala” has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically; a microcosm of the universe. (says wikipedia)
Artist Susan Burrison has brought her artist’s eye and steady hand to her mandalas, painted
with texture on smooth stones, magnets and small canvasses. Marrying eye candy pattern and color with tactile interest, Susan manages to create portable works of art. Now showing at The Gallery through October.
